![]() Regardless of how well someone did something the first time, the best are the ones that kept doing it over and over again (ie. Practice is worth more than talent anyways. * Install mods (No Pillars, Precision Engineering, In-Game Terraform mod, maybe Road Anarchy) and download assets (any building really) that will help to make the city look less monotonous, even if you do end up using grids for the most part ![]() * If you can't get rid of them, instead of making uniform grids, vary the size and shape of the grids in each district of the city this will lead to interesting solutions when you'll have to fit them all together * Study real-world cities with non-gridded layouts (any old Medieval town in Central Europe) You can make the roads follow the coastlines, meaning they'll be non-griddy by definition. * Pick a map with a lot of islands, and/or rivers. This said, some ideas for non-griddy (or rather perhaps non-monotonous) cities that I've found useful: If you can do this, every day will be full of successes. The lesson here, while hard to learn (for me as well), will be useful in all areas of life: stop comparing your skills to those of others only compare those of you today to those of you yesterday.
